When band relationships don't work out...

Well you just got out of your first band relationship congratulations! I know your heart is broken and you wish you could take it back, but you can't reverse time. It's time for you to move on not by finding a rebound or anything. To actually find yourself again. To say i didn't need him or her anyway. Now if in the middle of drama with him or her is still going on I wish you luck just know you have friends and family to get advice from. Just take a deep breath and ignore them. Go out with your friends to get your mind off him. Or like me do what you love to do. Now if he broke up with you saying we can still be friends it is possible but you won't be best of friends anymore it'll probably be simple words said like hi and nice to see you again basically the bullshit that most people avoid. Buthaving to see each other every fucking day I would at least try and spark a conversation and don't bring up your relationship no matter how good or bad it was DON'T BRING IT UP! I know it's sucks i've been in your situation and it's going to take awhile to get over. But these are just simple things you could do instead of planning murder yea I know what you were planning over there you sadistic bitch. Don't kill him or her or the person they left you for just kill them with kindness. I'm trying to make this a little funny because i'm crying just typing this up and I know it's ok to cry and I usually would delete this off of here but it's ok to cry to get the anger and the pain out intead of putting on a smile pretending that everything is fine when it's not. This basically goes for any type of relationship Shit like this happens all the time and you have to deal with it. You can get thorugh it I believe in you. Don't let anyone take your smile away.

Concert Season

IT'S CONCERT SEASON YAY! Marching season was fun but it's time to say goodbye to the marching uniform and hello to a formal dress or a formal dress shirt. Concert season is a time where you have little fun and chair order matters. Who's first chair they must be the best oh your last chair you suck. But really it shouldn't matter but it does. You see if you are a freshman and you beat the upperclassman that kicked everyones ass for years you are the best and the lord of that instrument. Now I know what your going to ask me how can I reach that level? Um practice...DUH! Is there dating during concert season? Not really if there is it's the couples that have been together for a while now and are going strong. Just remember you're still that same person from marching season just a little laid back. Concert season can be fun as long as you make it fun.

I haven't blogged in a while but if it makes sense that i've been super busy. I'll blog a lot more tommorrow I promise.

How to Handle your section or "Squad"

Well first things first i'm the realest. Just kidding. Your section/squad is now your family. Your annoying sisters and brothers, and guess what you're in charge of them. Basically you're the parent to them all, but don't let it go to your head people! Treat them with respect because outside of band they don't have to respect you. They can treat you like crap. But tell them this the first day to set down how you are "You have to respect on this field but you don't have to respect me off of it I'm going to treat you how you want to be treated and the same goes for me. We will respect each other." If someone is fighting in your section don't get in it. Everyone leaves they're fights and Arguments off the field and out of the band hall.

Dot Charts(HOW THA FUCK DO U READ THEM!!)

Well i'm sure some of you have taken math since you were in first grade i'm just going to tell you its like finding coordinates of a candy shop on the worksheet with a clown on it. (X,Y) just remember that they should teach you how to read them tho. And if you still don't understand just ask your section leader or drum major for help. Or Billy Bob Joe who really doesn't pay attention but knows how.( Trombones I swear,I'm a trombone player so I can talk.)

Pass Offs

Pass offs are when your director gives you a certain part of a song in you marching song and you have to pass it off that part by a certain day. But some people don't really attempt pass off so here's some advice on how to get pass offs done in time. Memorize your music play that part over and over again. And then see if you have memorized it and boom there you go. Or you could just not try...(I so didn't say that) But pass offs aren't that hard you just have to get the music down. You can do this. If you need any advice or anything don't be afraid to comment below I don't judge.

Solo and ensemble

Its solo time and its first time. I know its scary and nerve racking but its not that bad. I'm doing a class 1 solo by memorization this year and its actually easy. Just practice as much as you can and if you need help with a rhythm in your song just ask a band director for help. Go to the band hall early to get some help before people show up and distract him or her. Also lock yourself in the practice room with a recording of your solo listen too one part and try to play it. It really helps .

Woodwind Problems

Ok I noticed woodwinds have one problem that band directors get on the most and it is their reeds. I'm not even in that section and I know it happens a lot. And band directors go nuts when they see a reed that looks "Unacceptable". So how to fix that Always have extra reeds in your case or cork grease also and IT'S NOT LIP BALM! If you don't have any because reeds are expensive,Ask someone in your section if they have an extra reed and if they do say you'll replace it when you get more reeds.

Away Games (Time to turn up)

Away Games the time to meet other people like you...maybe...It's time to turn up! It's time to show the other band that you are better than them. To have an all out stand tune war. And to have fun with all of your band friends. But halftime is a serious matter it's time to turn down on talking but turn up on marching and playing. If you're nervous just breath and calm down do what you need to do on the field trust me it will feel like you never did it.

First Football...let the fun begin!

It's your first football, you're in your section and then you hear your band director yell a song name and CRAP YOU LOSE YOUR MUSIC! But there's a lot of things that can go wrong during or before or even after a football game for example what if your bus breaks down then you're going to be late to the game. What if you lose your music? Just relax...look off of someone elses music if its on the field just fake it and try to find your music or talk to a drum major or section leader about printing you some music. If the bus breaks down on the way they will figure something out just sit back and try to make it fun while they figure it out.tell cool stories or funny ones to your friends or to everyone. Like dude I was at lunch and someone was about to fight I was Said Sharkratchet no! Don't rub your ratchetness on her. I just made that up...Ew. But a lot of stuff can go wrong. So I knew It would be mean to leave out the color guard but i'm not in that and never will be. All I know is that there is Drama in color guard in ours because its all girls but heres a picture to make u laugh

Band Relationships and Crushes

So sometimes there is love in the air in a lot of places and one of those places is in the band hall. Some of these people are kind and loving people who want a relationship while some of them are people who just want to use you. Surprising band nerds gone wild. But most of the Band relationships don't last. Why? Because they're just like other relationships they don't work out and being in a band hall with people you have to see everyday and get dressed in front of the relationship will sometimes fade away. Also if your boyfriend/girlfriend is one of the people in charge of you it's like dating your boss. It's not as hot as it seems. I'm not telling you to not fall in love with anyone in band I'm just telling you things that happen most of the time. Some relationships last for a long time and it's the cutest and sweetest things to see.But you just have to work through the relationship. Now if you are seriously crushing on someone in band you might as well tell them. Don't think what if they don't like me back or I don't want to be rejected grow a pair and say I like you more than a friend. If they say they don't feel for you in that way it's they're lost just put your headphones in and listen to your favorite song on blast.And don't quit band just because they are there just walk around like I never needed you. How To Survive Your First Time At Band Camp (Freshmeat this goes for you)

Ok I know you're probably acting like you're not scared but you probably are. Some of you might have siblings in the band with you, but you can't just be with them the whole time because they might not be in your section and if they are and they are your section leader hopefully it won't go bad because i know the feeling. When you walk into that band hall find an upperclassman you don't known and start a conversation they aren't that bad. Well...i'm not. Just be yourself. And be ready to do some icebreakers like 2 truths and a lie so be ready to talk. The first week is basically learning music and how to march. Also marching for the first time they are going to probably start with a simple forward march demonstration so don't stress it and if your band camp already started good luck and you got this. If it hasn't relax if your older sibling help you with marching early just ask. Oh one more thing don't be a total buttwipe to people if they are rude to you be like kermit and walk away. School Schedule...Band Camp Calendar...Jeggings?

I got my my schedule for next year and its looks pretty decent but i have to change some things like regular spanish 3 to PAP spanish 3 and world history to PAP world history...yea i'm a overachiever. But at least everything else looks good from there but the band camp schedule. DUN DUN DUNNNNN. It's long and I can't go to the library that much and chill but they understand i'll be there when I get out of band camp. They can trust me on that that is my 2nd home and my "Moms" are there. AND MY JEGGINGS PROBLEM. My dad keeps trying to make me buy certain things from certain places but he doesn't understand me. He will never understand me. -Bandnerd2016

Band Camp is starting...(NOOOOOO!!!!!)

Band camp starts in a couple weeks and i'm not ready. I mean I have the best position ever (Drum Major), but it's the scariest thing to be. Why? because if you mess up your screwed there is no going back in time to change it. If you fall off a the podium during a football game everyone will laugh at you until you die probably. And the guy I sort of had feelings for would see too because HE"S IN THE BAND TOO! I think i'll make it next year without freaking out...hopefully -Bandnerd2016
